When the high street does scent

Beautiful fragrances are not just the realm of fashion houses and beauty companies, you can also pick up some beautiful compositions from many a high street store. You see, over the past few years an array of retailers have jumped on the beauty bandwagon and upped their game by releasing a scent, from Miss Selfridge to J Crew.

And they are certainly nothing to turn your nose up at. In fact, these fragrances are lovingly created by some of the most coveted ‘noses’ and perfume designers in the business.
Here are four of our all-time favourites…

& Other Stories Fig Fiction, £26 for 50ml eau de toilette
Try it at & Other Stories

Created in collaboration with renowned Robertet perfumer Jérôme Epinette, Fig Fiction (we love the name) evokes the feeling of ‘musky green fig leaves swaying in the warm evening air.’ The fruity composition opens with juicy blackcurrant, pink pepper and lemon, perfectly accompanied by the addition of green bamboo, wild fig and dewy violet in the middle. The aroma is rounded off by the softness of Brazillian rosewood, dark plum and vetiver in the base.

Miss Selfridge Étoile, £12 for 50ml eau de parfum
Try it at Miss Selfridge

Working alongside perfume designer Azzi GlasserMiss Selfridge launched its first two fragrances this year and they truly went down an absolute storm. Described as the perfect scent for evening, Etoile features notes of neroli, Sicilian bergamot and plump blackcurrant at the top, gradually drying to a heart and base of lotus tea, lily of the valley, champaka, musk and woody accords.

Reiss Grey Flower, £49 for 100ml eau de parfum
Try it at Reiss
Last year saw the launch of Grey Flower, the debut fragrance from luxury high street label Reiss. This unforgettable scent by perfume designer Azzi Glasser is a beautiful blend of artemisia, pimento, sequoia and red berries, slowly settling on the skin to reveal a bouquet of jasmine, patchouli and green leaves at its glorious heart. The velvety warmth of olibanum draws you into the base, which is accompanied by notes of crystal amber and musk.
