Joséphine Bonaparte was famous for two things: her love of Napoléon – and her love of roses.
It’s this latter passion which is celebrated with a new candle from heritage French home fragrance house Cire Trudon. The images you can see here were Instagrammed from their launch: a floral explosion, echoing the notes in the candle itself.
There are roses galore… And soft, sweet iris… Jasmine scampering over the whole candle, with touches of citrus (bergamot and kaffir lime), sandalwood, white musk and spices. It’s a nod to Josephine’s Créole roots, but in the fine tradition of French perfumery, billowing to fill a room with its floralcy.
Cire Trudon sum it up like this: ‘The muffled light of dawn slips through the flower beds. A fine shadow sneaks among the roses, jasmine, camellias and irises. With her delicate green thumb, she awakens the dazzling fragrances of a garden with an imperial destiny.’
It’s a limited edition. And you’ll have to be quick, because our co-founder (see below) might just be stocking up on this namesake creation.
