To celebrate the launch of their new fragrance Brighton Rock, Miller Harris did something completely different. (And rather wonderful.)
They commissioned talented photographer Laura Meek, who has previously shot campaigns for the perfume house, to create some imagery that would conjure up the fragrance. The first thing she did was hop on a train to Brighton, to soak up the seaside town’s candyfloss and sea air vibe (which happen to be beautifully evoked in the scent itself), described as ‘andied nostalgia, exalted with juicy blood orange, jasmine and magnolia, with a delicate wash of waterlily and rose suggesting watercolour skies over pale seas.’
These photographs are now being showcased at an ongoing exhibition at Miller Harris‘s boutique in Canary Wharf, where you can admire and even buy the imagery (prints are available in different sizes, including postcards). The images for Brighton Rock and its ‘sister’ scent Blousy, from the same collection, have also been printed onto little blotters. (The nicest we’ve seen all year, but we expect they’ll disappear fast.)
On a grey day, the images (see below for one of our favourites) – and these carefree scents themselves – are a most welcome way to be beamed straight back to summery skies and hot days.
We’ve a hunch we’ll be needing some more of that, over coming months.
