Rising as early as 5 a.m., Kurkdjian begins his day with remarkable efficiency and clarity. ‘People generally link creativity to romanticism, like a free spirit with your hair blowing in the wind, but it doesn’t work that way; you need a frame within which to work,’ he observes. This structured mindset, combined with a minimalist aesthetic and a meticulously organised workspace, allows him to distil moments of light and emotion into scent with extraordinary precision.

 

 

 

 

 

Within his Maison, Kurkdjian’s fragrances are singularly suffused with radiance, each bottle seeming to glow softly from within. Indeed, many of his compositions are conceived as luminous expressions of time and mood – from the delicate freshness of dawn to the warm embrace of twilight. ‘I have a creative routine that I apply for most of my projects,’ he explains. ‘As an early bird I am at the office around 7:30 – 8 the latest. It’s the best time for me to work on a scent, to smell the trials I have made previously.’
