We do hope you’ll all be posting a #smellfie tomorrow as part of our celebration of the most important day in our perfumed calendar: National Fragrance Day. (For more info about how to post a #smellfie – and what you could win – click here.)
But we also encourage you to share a favourite smell memory with The Fragrance Foundation, the industry body which helps to educate fragrance consultants, journalists – and encourage appreciation of the sense of smell in a younger generation, with the Marty the Mighty Nose Awards for perfumed poetry in schools.
You can share this via Twitter and Instagram – but be sure to hashtag #scentmemories and use the handle @FragranceFDN_uk, so they can spot them. Perhaps talk about a perfume that’s meant a lot to you – or a smell that whisks you through time and space. Share a first fragrance ‘love’, or maybe the scent you wore for your wedding.
For more inspirations, there’s a website – scentmemories.org – which features many different individuals’ #ScentMemories, including those of novelists Jane Thynne and Veronica Henry, Sadie Frost and Leighton Denny along with many perfumers, entrepreneurs and other figures from the fragrance world. (The Perfume Society team’s own scented recollections are tucked away in the archives for 2016, too!)
Let’s make it a lovely fragrant day – in as many ways as possible!
