News just in: the members of CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) have cast their votes – and declared Issey Miyake Pleats Please as ‘Best New Prestige Fragrance’ for 2013.
Pleats have been Japanese designer Issey Miyake’s signature since the start of his career, and CEW insiders loved the way this so-feminine fruity-floral scent unfolds, revealing notes of crisp nashi pear, sweet pea, peony, cedarwood, vanilla and patchouli.
Issey Miyake Pleats Please from £33 for 50ml
PS We should really mention the runners-up in dispatches: Mary Greenwell Lemon is one of the zestiest, most refreshing scents we’ve smelled in a long time, confirming this make-up artist’s place on the fragrance map, with its crisp, green coolness – created by the genius François Robert. At the opposite end of the ‘heat’ spectrum is smouldering Dolce&Gabbana Intense: tuberose and orange flower at its heart, Intense gives way to warm, resinous sandalwood and sensual musks.
Mary Greenwell Lemon from £65 for 50ml eau de parfum
