THE NEW MAN: Jimmy Choo Man Blue

FRAGRANCE FAMILY: WOODY

Top notes: clary sage, black pepper, bergamot
Heart notes: leather, cypress, grey amber
Base notes: sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver

Fascinating how scents create textural sensations – here we’re getting the deep, velvety herbaceousness of clary sage, grainy roughness of raw leather and the smooth, warm sensuality of sandalwood.

Perfumer Nathalie Lorson perfectly interprets the so-stylish Jimmy Choo man – a chap who (Jimmy Choo tell us) thinks nothing of dinning a fresh pair of white sneakers with his impeccably tailored suit (and, what’s more, might just pop onto a skateboard as his preferred method of commuting to work). We won’t hold you to that form of travelling – but this is definitely a fragrance anyone would enjoy smelling on the Tube at rush hour.

Jimmy Choo was born in 1948 in Penang, Malaysia. Having a father who worked as a cobbler led him to be captivated by shoemaking from an early age, reportedly making his first pair at the age of eleven. Making his way to England, he graduated from Cordwainers Technical College with honours in 1983, securing an eight-page feature in Vogue within two years of his first shop opening, and building a fashion and fragrance empire ever since.

The talented Sandra Choi is now at the helm of the Jimmy Choo empire – a woman as passionate and discerning about fragrance as she is about everything that carries the famous Jimmy Choo name.
