THE NEW MAN: Floris Turnbull & Asser 71/72

Top notes: mandarin, bergamot, juniper
Heart notes: lavender, jasmine, orris, oudh
Base notes: sandalwood, boisamber, frankincense

Drawing on centuries of dandyish fashion with devilishly good tailoring, this crisply aromatic fragrance opens with a fizz of citrus – mandarin paired with elegantly fresh bergamot – and a good dash of juniper berries to evoke thoughts of long, cool gin & tonics enjoyed in a gentleman’s club.
Fabulously peppery lavender lifts flagging spirits with white blossoms of jasmine atop a perfectly smooth heart of orris and earthily rich oudh. A base of warm, carefully balanced spices, woods and a drift of clean smokiness make for a fragrance to be splashed on with abandon by chaps who know a thing or two about timeless style and taste.

Floris began this collaboration in 2015, with the owner of neighbouring shirt emporium Turnbull & Asser commissioning a small batch fragrance, to be hand poured in limited volume for their most loyal St. James’s customers. With both sets of customers sharing a passion for exquisite quality and craftsmanship, the fragrance struck a definite chord – and is now released to a wider audience of discerning aesthetes.
