City life in August calls for more than a touch of bold glamour and this week’s latest launches have it in spades. Carolina Herrera Good Girl Fantastic Pink will take you to the ball, whilst the dazzling glitz of YSL Black Opium Storm Illusion will put you in dancing mood. Louis Vuitton Nuit de Feu catches a sultry tailwind with smoky musk and oodles of oud. It’s hot in the city!
HER LONDON DREAM
Cara Delevingne again embodies the cool-girl vibe in the ads for the latest in Burberry’s Her oeuvre. Jerome di Marino and Maria Lernout ‘translate the energy of London in a variety of ways’ by reconfiguring notes of fresh ginger, lemon, rose and peony, suffused with a cloud of musks, in a radiant and sparkling eau de parfum that is free-spirited, romantic and super-wearable. Her’s smooth flask flacon makes a welcome return, too.

GOOD GIRL FANTASTIC PINK
Collectors (and there are many) are definitely going to want to snap up this blushing version of the now iconic stiletto shoe bottle, and if you’ve not already fallen for the modern melding of Oriental/floral/spicy juice inside, you’re also in for a treat. A gorgeous dichotomy of rich cocoa and toasty tonka beans ground a luminescent bouquet of jasmine sambac and sheer tuberose in the heart, the creamy note of almond lapping lastingly.

THIS IS NOT A BLUE BOTTLE 1.6
Artistic, abstract concepts shape the inspiration for the ‘Blue Bottle’ collection, and for this latest from the French niche house, luscious green citrus notes of yuzu and neroli are enfolded by white musks at the very heart of the fragrance, buoyed on light-filled shards of orange blossom and hypnotic lotus flower. Transcendental in spirit, it’s supremely rounded, like wearing a planet of perfume amidst a galaxy of emptiness – a way of grounding yourself in scent.

BLACK OPIUM STORM ILLUSION
Black Opium is clearly going for collector status here, with this special edition flacon for the seductive ‘rock couture’ fragrance. The coffee-powered eau de parfum is unchanged, but emblazoned here with a shimmering lightning bolt of black, pink and silver, ‘glittering like beams of light reflecting through a summer festival crowd.’ You might have to put on your own festival, in 2020 – but we can’t think of a more electric scent, to get the party started.

NUIT DE FEU
In a (refillable) Marc Newson flacon dark as the night sky, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud pays homage to incense, ‘a sacred scent revered down the ages and across cultures.’ Inspired by a night in the desert where a camp fire crackles, sending tendrils of smoke into the sky, the incense curls through an infusion of natural leather (so beloved by Vuitton, of course), together with a powerful musk accord and lashings of appropriately dark oudh.
