Terracotta-lovers will surely thrill to the news that Thierry Wasser‘s sun-drenched creation – originally launched as a limited edition for 2014 – has been embraced into Guerlain‘s permanent perfume collection.
It absolutely conjures up, for us (and its countless fans) that ‘beach-y’ feeling of hot sand, warm sun and tropical flowers. Inspired by the legendary Terracotta Bronzing Powder – which has sun-kissed the complexions of supermodels and presidents (we’re told Bill Clinton‘s worn it!) – Terracotta Le Parfum opens with a fresh twist of bergamot, before the heart notes open their petals: exotic tiaré and ylang ylang. As you might expect from Guerlain, vanilla features in the base – that most delicious of notes, virtually a ‘signature’ for the fragance house.
We’re enjoying it now – but this is a fragrance which may well come into its own on a grey January day, when we can close our eyes and think of Madagascar, the Maldives, Monaco – and inject a little ray of sunshine into the gloom.
