Fashion and fragrance are very often to be found hand in (scented) glove, as we know, and London Collections Men 2016 shows are no exception – this year being exclusively scented by Floris London with their Sandalwood & Patchouli candles and room sprays.
Floris were way ahead of the scented style pack with their home fragrances dating back to the 1800s – in the catalogue of 1851 a whole range entitled ‘For Perfuming Apartments’ could be found. Indeed, as a definitive London perfume house – and one of sadly few surving in the capital – Floris and fashion have a remarkably long history.
In 1730, founder Juan Famenias Floris and his wife Elizabeth began selling perfume, combs and shaving products at 89 Jermyn Street, an elegant area surrounded by shirt manufacturers, tailors and fabric merchants as well as a gin distillery – all scent inspirations that went into the eponymous Jermyn Street fragrance that launched last year and aimed to capture the historic craftsmanship surrounding the area of that original shop, still being run to this day by the Floris family decendants.
If your invite to this season’s hotly contested Front Row somehow got lost in the post (again), you can always scent your home with the same fragrance as the shows – just close your eyes, put on your best pout and imagine you’re there…
