When we first heard a few month’s back that Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss were teaming up to front Burberry’s upcoming scent (shot by Mario Testino), we were kept in the dark as to what it would be like. The details were well and truly under wraps, until now…and it was totally worth the wait.
Keeping to its British roots, My Burberry pays homage to the brand’s signature trench coat (how apt), which is worn by the model duo throughout the visually delightful campaign. The bottle even has a gabardine bow made from the same fabric as the coat and a horn-finished cap, as a nod to the buttons.
‘My Burberry is the first and only fragrance to draw its inspiration so directly from the Burberry trench, it has to be the true embodiment of our brand – in scent, in design and in attitude,’ explained Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey.
Created alongside master ‘nose’ Francis Kurkdjian, the new fruity floral scent opens with top notes of sweet pea and bergamot, developing into a warm heart of herbal, vibrant geranium, golden quince and freesia. The base includes accords of patchouli, damask and spicy centifolia roses.
According to the perfumer, the new scent is inspired by an urban garden in London after the rain, evoking the ‘vibrancy of the city’.
