From bulb to bloom – Penhaligon’s perfect Ostara afternoon tea at Clifton Nurseries

Penhaligon’s have partnered up with Clifton Nurseries – one of London’s oldest horticultural institutions – to celebrate the official launch of the British perfume house’s beautiful new spring floral, Ostara, by creating a perfect afternoon tea-time menu inspired by notes found in the perfume. Fragrance and food… sounds just our cup of tea!

Within this historical setting, those following the golden path of daffodils to the nursery’s Quince Tree café will discover it likewise bedecked with the joyful yellow blooms and a scrumptious menu to enjoy, too. Plus, if you read on, you may discover how to add a little fragrant freebie to your afternoon treat…

Penhaligon’s say: ‘The bespoke Ostara menu of The Quince Tree features a wide range of irresistible delicacies, including lemon and wild honey éclairs, honeycomb cheesecakes and violet cupcakes. Even the finger sandwiches will have an Ostara inspired twist, with the saffron and beetroot flavoured breads reflecting the colour of the notes of daffodils and berries within the scent. And if that wasn’t enticing enough, customers will be gifted with a small bunch of daffodils and a sample of Ostara upon leaving – the perfect gift for any mother this Mother’s Day.’

Ostara – a luminous solar floral created by Master Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. Inspired by the daffodil, the fragrance is a modern interpretation of this delicate and incandescent flower. An olfactory journey – from bulb to bud to bloom…

Penhaligon’s describe Ostara as ‘…an affirming burst of green and yellow – juniper, violet leaf absolute and spearmint are layered against vibrant notes of aldehydes, blackcurrant and clementine. Narcissus absolute leads the sun-drenched floral bouquet, gathered with hyacinth, hawthorn, and cyclamen, which are given depth by the humming warmth of beeswax. The fragrance then settles into a powdered, resinous base of benzoin, vanilla, styrax, amber and white wood effects.’

Unique Ostara-themed floral arrangements will also be sold within the shop, alongside bottles of the scent itself and, of course, the afternoon tea. We can’t think of a nicer way to treat your mum, your best friend or simply the person you want to say thank you to more than any other!
