On dreary autumnal days like this one, we often turn to fragrance to boost our spirits and transport us to tranquil, far away lands. The latest duo of scents from Aerin Lauder do just this – allowing us to dream and escape on a beautiful olfactive journey to open fields in the countryside and picturesque gardens garlanded with flowers and lily ponds.
For Waterlily Sun, perfumer Annie Buzantian wanted to feel that ‘rush of life that comes from reaching complete harmony with nature.’ She layered brightening bergamot and dewy green notes over delicate waterlily and intense jasmine – softly warmed by the addition of musk in the base. Inspired by the peaceful gardens of Giverny in France (where Monet lived and painted), the floral watery scent evokes the feeling of utter serenity while lazing in the sunshine.
Iris Meadow was composed by Dora Bagriche and according to Aerin herself, takes you to ‘a place to dream – wide open fields, brilliant blues skies and an endless landscape of flowers.’ Sounds pretty perfect for’Generation Overwhelmed’, then. Opening its sensuous arms with a blend of vibrant blackcurrant and green notes, alongside powdery iris and Egyptian jasmine at the heart, it slowly dries down to reveal fresh, woody cedar and softening musk.
