As catwalk frenzy takes hold, our new Blogger of the Month is Fashion for Lunch (we think you’ll love her fragrance reviews)

Each month on our website, we showcase the work of a talented blogger we think you’ll enjoy.

Fashion for Lunch bridges beauty, fragrance and (as its name suggests) style – and we especially like Kirsty’s stunning perfume photography. We’re not surprised that Fashion for Lunch has notched up approaching 9,000 subscribers: it’s approachable, warm – and insightful.

As is our custom, we’re sharing one of our Blogger of the Month‘s postings, here. Though not strictly fragrant, we so enjoyed this run-down of fabulous housewarming gifts (many of them scented), we wanted you to read it, too…

Over the last few months a few of my friends have bought their new homes. Maybe we are getting old or maybe mortgage rates are just really low at the moment. Whatever the reason, I have found myself needing to buy housewarming gifts and not really sure what to choose. I’m just not sure that I can get away with recreating the scene in friends where Pheobe’s gift to Ross includes salt, bread and a candle.

‘Salt so your life always has flavor, bread so you never go hungry, and a scented candle for the bathroom, because… well, you know’

I thought very hard and here are some great housewarming gifts.

Jo Malone Scented Candle

Maybe Pheobe Buffay had a point with this one, a scented candle is always a nice gift and they don’t get much better than Jo Malone London. Lime Basil & Mandarin is the signiture fragrance from the brand, it’s warm, uplifting and beautiful. If your friends have a bit of a ‘project home’ this candle might help them see the light at the end of the tunnel and even if it’s not, I’m sure it will help them to feel like their house is a home.

teapigs

I’m British, tea is important to me and it is to 99.999% of the population, so why not give your friend the gift of luxury tea? teapigs have been a long time treat for me, it’s all the taste of loose leaf tea with the ease of a tea bag. Peppermint for me please!!

True Grace Hand Wash and Lotion

If your friend had bought a bit of a project home, the chances are they will be spending their evenings and weekends fixing up their homes. Generally this is tiring and dirty work, which is why I felt a True Grace hand wash and lotion duo might be the way to go!

Fit-Flop Slippers

It might sound crazy, but slippers are a great moving in gift. There is comfort and homeliness baked inside and they are really practical too. It’s very rare you move into a new home which has all new carpets, they either need a deep clean or to be ripped up and replaced. Slippers provide a little home comfort and a buffer between your friends and the building site they might be living in! Personally, I love Fit-Flops, they look cute, keep your tootsies toasty and also have the added benefit of FitFlop Technology!

Sabon Bodycare

Moving home is hard work, there is so much to be done, packing, unpacking, painting, gardening, DIY, you name it, it has to be done! Give your friends a treat with some relaxing Sabon bath salts, scrubs and body lotions.

OnePiece

Before I owned a OnePiece, I didn’t quite understand why people were so obsessed with them. Then I got one and it changed my life. There is nothing more comfortable and cosy than a OnePiece. They are the ultimate home clothing, they are better than any pair of pyjamas, any dressing gown or blanket. Why not celebrate your friends new home with the something that will keep them warm and happy all Winter long!

Crabtree & Evelyn

Here’s one for the green fingered folk. If your friends love to garden and they finally have some outside space, this Crabtree & Evelyn range will keep their hands soft and nourished no matter how much time they spend tending to their new garden. My parents swear by it!

Flamingo Candles

These Flamingo Candles are a really fun gift which your friends will not only giggle over, but they will also love to use! Every home needs a good lick of paint when they move in and these candles are cleverly masquerading as pots of paint! As you would with any pot of paint, you have to prise the lid open to expose the delightful three wick candles!! Clever, cute and such a great gift!

Tanqueray Gin

It’s always nice to bring a bottle, whilst wine is nice, a good Gin & Tonic is so delicious and refreshing. Tanqueray is my personal gin of choice and not only will it make you look cool (let’s be honest, gin is still the hipster drink) but it will also make a nice start to their drinks cabinet!
