Fornasetti and the secret garden

Some people collect paintings. Others, shoes. But we also know plenty of fairly obsessive ‘collectors’ of Fornasetti candles, which come with the ‘gift-with-purchase’ of a visually delightful design and intriguing olfactive tale.

The latest fragrant candle creation in their series, Giardino Segreto di Fornasetti embodies all that is great about spring within its carefully crafted wax. The idealised inspiration says it all: if you imagine a dreamlike Italian secret garden that’s garlanded with all kinds of greenery, you can pretty much pick up on the scent straight away.

Green, fresh notes of cypress, ivy and cedarwood are expertly blended alongside aromatic thyme and maquis. Then vetiver and labdanum tie is all together by adding a delicately dry touch.

Oh, and let’s not forget the incredible design – which is all down to Barnaba Fornasetti. He combined the motifs of owls, leaves and balustrade from his father’s artistry to create a dreamlike sequence of images – so perfectly fitting for the fourth scent from Fornasetti Profumi.
